ACTIVE DRIVE dynamic stander

Active Drive is a modern dynamic standing frame designed for active rehabilitation of individuals with lower-limb paralysis. It enables stepping in an upright position combined with smooth gliding movement. Equipped with a wheelchair lifting system and the RehaGym module, it offers a wide range of therapeutic possibilities.

The device is intended for active users with injury levels up to Th5, who have full arm function and no deformities of the knees or feet.

How does the Active Drive dynamic stander work?

Active Drive uses a mechanism of alternating lateral tilts combined with a smooth motion-guiding system, activating the kinematics of natural gait and allowing the user to move independently around a room. By holding the handles, the user initiates small movements of the torso, which the device transfers to the legs, enabling stepping in an upright position.

The dynamic gait system integrates standing with gentle gliding motion, allowing movement forward and backward, performing turns, squats and half-squats, and engaging a wide range of muscle groups.

Active Drive also supports the rehabilitation of individuals with tetraplegia.
In such cases, assistance from a caregiver is required during transfers from a wheelchair or bed to the device, standing up, and guiding movement during gait training. In most situations, only passive gait is possible. Thanks to the construction of Active Drive, this process is smooth and does not require significant effort from the therapist — even when working with users of higher body weight or with a severe degree of paralysis.

Example of passive gait:
The caregiver introduces controlled lateral tilts, allowing the user to perform steps and turns.

Example of passive lifting:
The caregiver raises the user into a standing position and safely returns them to a seated position.

The basic exercises that you can perform

Independent, safe and comfortable standing in an upright position.
Movement in any direction Movement takes the form of stepping without bending the legs at the knee. Small alternating movements of ankle and hip joins combined with a little skating (like inline skating). During active stepping the patient´s musculoskeletal system is naturaly loaded. Legs, back, arms and chest muscles are working very intensively – watch video.
Mobility improvement of ankle, knee and hip joints. While performing sit-ups and half sit-ups (by means of Reha Gym system), ancles, knees and hips joints work as hard as in healthy people. Training of all groups of torso muscles – watch video.

Main applications

  • improvement of physical fitness and muscle strength,

  • enhancement of cardiovascular and respiratory function,

  • reduction of spasticity,

  • maintenance of proper mobility in the lower-limb joints,

  • reduction of the risk of contracture development,

  • increase in bone mineral density,

  • positive impact on well-being, motivation, and mental state.
